Drainage

Drainage is one of the most important pragmatic concerns while constructing your new outdoor environment. If your drainage is not being installed like a sewer, with directional, solvent welded fittings, to ensure it's maintainability, you are asking for future issues. We install drainage with the thought that we will be there doing your gardening in the future and will be held responsible for maintenance of drainage systems.

Mitigation of water runoff in the Ballona Creek Watershed area is soon to be mandated in the City of Los Angeles. Our many years of working with the City of Santa Monica's stringent mitigation requirements have prepared us for compliance with the spirit and the letter of the new guidelines.

Do you have water under your house? If someone wants you to install a sump pump under the house, call us first. Unless there is an artesian well under there, that water should be mitigated outside the structure, before it ever gets under the house.

Irrigation

To drip or not to drip? Sun or shade? Lawn or shrub? Drought tolerant planting? Is a fertilizer injection tank right for you? (The answer to that is YES, every time. But they must be installed properly in order to get proper benefit.) And what about gray-water? Is it feasible for your project? Hardscape

When designing hardscape, the most important concern is how will the new work interface visually with the new or existing architecture? If your project is new construction, it is likely your building architect has excellent ideas and strong opinions concerning this critical relationship between interior and exterior space. We can assist in the implementation of their vision. If you are remodeling or updating the landscape of an existing structure, the hardscape must complement the building and other landscape items. Of course, longevity is tantamount.

Fencing

Wood fencing seems simple. Poorly installed wood fencing with questionable materials can deteriorate rapidly. We build elegant fencing that will last 15-20 years and beyond, with optional wrought iron framed gates that lock and latch with keyed entries like a doorway.

Trees/Plants/Ground Covers/Lawn/and Beyond

Much has been made of California Native planting and drought tolerant landscapes. They are similar, but not exactly the same. Left to our devices, we will point you to a water conservative garden of some type. We can explain the differences in aesthetics and pragmatics. With the heightened awareness of water availability and costs, now more than ever, trees and plants must be designed with water conservation in mind.

Lighting

Low and high voltage outdoor lighting is one of the most visually stunning pieces to the landscape design/installation puzzle. We can help you with everything from the selection of the lighting fixtures, tree lighting, path lighting, party lighting, with complete switching flexibility for different entertainment situations. We offer to maintain the lighting and change light bulbs as part of the regular gardening regimen. All our gardening foremen have actually installed large lighting systems and they know the maintenance.

Hillside Problem Solving

Most hillside problem solutions involve retaining planter walls, retaining devices, and staircases of some kind. We specialize in the construction of these items using pressure treated landscape timbers. The timbers are 6"x 8"x 8' long. Let us demonstrate the myriad ways this versatile material can be used to insure your hillsides are protected from erosion with vastly increased usability.
